| ExtensionBook Lift Activity
Recall what you learned about the cells’ need for
oxygen to transform the energy stored in a
glucose molecule into a high energy ATP molecule.
Also think back to the very first activity you did
about exercise and the need for energy.
Now do this exercise: Hold a book with your extended hand and raise you
arm up and down for 2 minutes or until it feels very tired and begins to
burn.
As you think through this problem, pay particular attention to how your
body uses oxygen and glucose.
What is happening in their cells?
How do you think the rest of their body may be reacting in order to get
oxygen and glucose to their cells?
Why do you feel tired and sometimes have a burning pain in your muscles
after exercising a long time? |
