| ExtensionIs Measurable Heat Produced by Cellular Respiration?
Materials: Beaker for boiling water
Hot plate
Thermometer
Straw
Procedure:
Measure the temperature of a small amount of water (5 to 10 ml). Be sure
to measure accurately. If you are having trouble reading the thermometer,
ask your teacher for help.
Breathe into the water with a straw for several minutes.
Remeasure the temperature of the water.
What did you find? Did the temperature go up?
What were you breathing out?
If so, what conclusions can you suggest about cellular respiration? |
