Misconceptions

Cells

• Dual cell models.
• The body is made up of cells, but
• Only be able to conceive of cells as isolated, individual structures, not having a pattern or configuration necessary to make up tissues
• Students draw what they can see with the naked eye such as lines and dots on the skin and may or may not call these cells
• Students draw tissue according to what they have heard it does, i.e., they will draw heart cells as miniature hearts
