Investigation 3.2
O' Say Can You See? |
Observe carefully the pictures of cells that your teacher is showing you. These pictures were taken under a microscope at a very high magnification. |
Recall that the body is made up of cells, that cells are very small, and that it is necessary to use a microsope to see cells. You may have done an activity where you looked at an 'o' under the microscope. |
Remember also the ear of corn analogy and the block wall activity. If you keep these in mind as you observe the pictures of cells it will help you to identify groups of cells in a pattern. |
As you look at the slides, keep in mind the patterns you have observed in the ear of corn and the block wall. Try to find a pattern in the slides of cells. |
Try to find a group of single cells and draw and label them in your lab book. |
Now look back at the drawings you made of the very thin slice of heart, skin, and muscle that you drew in Investigation 3.1. |
Compare these to the pictures your teacher showed you and the slides of cells you just looked at under the microscope. |
How has your model of cells changed? Draw your model of a group of cells in your lab book. |
