Totally Cellular Project

Today you will be creating a 3-D model of a cell found in the human
body. You will also write a short story about their voyage into the cell.
Students will pretend that they can shrink down very small and hitch a ride
into the cell.
Each student will be responsible for making his or her own model. This
model can be made out of any material you chose but must accurately
represent the cell.
DIRECTIONS:
The model should include:
1. A 3-D representation of your cell
2. The organelles: the small structures found in your cell
3. Labels of all parts.
The written portion should include:
At least a one page story of your voyage through the cell (3 pages is
better). On your journey you will come across many different organelles
and cell structures. You will need to describe these parts and their major
function.
In your story you must identify the major parts. You may include pictures
in your story to help you describe what these parts look like. Remember
the school analogy since this will help you better understand the major
function of the organelles.
Assessment:
To Earn a “B”
-Your model must include all major structures and must have labels for
each part.
-Your story must describe all the major structures, be neatly written or
typed, and contain few spelling or grammar errors.
To Earn an “A”
-You must satisfy the B criteria AND,
-Include a color poster of your cell and its structures OR share your story
of your voyage aloud in class.
-May contain no spelling or grammar errors.
